Information for incoming students

Kuressaare Ametikool welcomes around 50 Erasmus exchange students/staff each year, and we cooperate with more than 40 different vocational schools throughout Europe.

Erasmus+ is the European Union’s (EU) funding programme for education and training, youth and sport. The overall programme objectives are to:

  • Boost skills and employability
  • Modernise education, training and youth work
  • Improve opportunities for young people

The Programme is provided with funding from the European Commission.

Kuressaare Ametikool has participated in the Life Long Learning programme since 1996 and in the last few years there has been a substantial increase in student/staff mobility with over 70 Kuressaare Ametikool students participating and around 50 incoming students/staff in 2015-16.

Incoming Erasmus Students - Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in internship under the Erasmus mobility programme. Kuressaare Ametikool welcomes around 50 Erasmus exchange students/staff each year, and we cooperate with more than 40 different vocational schools throughout Europe.

To take part in the Erasmus programme at Kuressaare, you need to contact the departmental Erasmus coordinator at your home institution to express your interest. Please remember that the first contacts to our college are always made by your Teacher or International Coordinator.

Academic year at Kuressaare Ametikool starts in the beginning of September and ends at the end of May. Between September and May we warmly welcome foreign students for both work based learning and to the college workshops.

We hope you will find the information in this website informative and helpful. It covers such matters as travelling to Kuressaare, accomodation services, and social life.

We are confident that your stay with us will be a fruitful one and that you will leave our island with fond memories of your time spent in Kuressaare Ametikool and its partner companies.

When you want to do your mobility period (working or studying) at Kuressaare Ametikool the first step that you have to take is to prepare a Europass CV and a motivation letter. In the motivation letter you should introduce yourself and tell us a little bit more of the placement/studies you desire, what you want to learn and also tell us the preferred time when you want to come to Kuressaare.

These Documents will be sent by your teacher/International coordinator to us and we can start looking for most proper company for you. At the same time we are arranging the accommodation.

Before you arrive

Before you leave home, don’t forget to bring with you:

  • Your Passport or National Identity Card
  • European Health Insurance Card
  • All Erasmus+ documentation (Europass, Assessment sheets, contracts).
  • Some wind and waterproof clothing and warm sweater


How to get to Kuressaare

By plane, bus or car… even by boat (actually itś ferryboat)! Here's some information about all the available options to help you decide which type of transport suits you bestlink opens on new page.

The easiest and the most common way to travel to Estonia is by airplane. And then the easiest but not maybe the quickest way to get to Kuressaare is by bus. Bus from Tallinn to Kuressaare takes 4 hours including ferry trip for 30 minutes (during this you can eat and stretch your legs).

If you still find it too complicated we always ready to help you with planning.

Accommodation facilities

For your stay we offer you the possibility to stay in our school's hotel Mardi or students hostellink opens on new page.

Accommodation can be arranged by our International coordinator to get the better price.

There is free Wifi in hostel and hotel, possibility to use the kitchen, gym, do the laundry etc.
